In response to your question about the air quality and how noticeable it is, I don't think that it's that bad on a normal basis. I grew up in Pasadena, California, a city about 25 miles west of Claremont; however, for the past 15 years I have spent all of my summers in a small mountain town that had perfect air quality. I get accustomed to the perfect air every summer and have not once had a problem coming back to either Pasadena or Claremont. I won't lie when I say that some days, the air isn't great, but those days are rare and even when it's bad, I don't notice much (and I don't think most of my friends do either).
