Yup, it definitely is possible to live without a car, though it's convenient to have one. CMC's policy in recent years has also been for freshman not to have cars on campus.

Alternatives:

  • Bicycle: Really useful for cycling to Target, to other campuses, etc.
  • Public Transportation: I'm from Singapore, where the public transportation is really great, so SoCal's lack of public transport was a little disconcerting at first. You get used to it, though! There's an hourly train about 15 min away (by foot) from school that runs to LA, and buses go to Upland, Montclair, etc pretty regularly.
